Construction of new roundabout underway.
What we achieved in June/July/August
- Continued drainage works at the western side of train line
- Began deconstruction of Two Plank Bridge
- Completed piling works for the eastern structural embankments up to the bridge
- Carried out initial static-load pile testing for the new bridge
- Started ‘cropping piles’ on east and west side of site
- Completed band drain installation on east and west side of site
- Laid tarmac (up to binder course) on the new roundabout, and its north and south legs
- Installed piezometers to monitor ground settlement as the embankments are constructed
What's happening in September/October/November
- Fully re-open Enterprise Way and Spalding Road
- Construct and join Enterprise way leg of new roundabout
- Lay the final layer of new road surface on Spalding Road and the new roundabout
- Construct pile caps and continue abutment and pier piling works for new bridge
- Pouring and holding in place the concrete for the new bridge’s west and east abutment bases
- Construction of piers east and west of railway
Current/ongoing traffic restrictions and closures
- Closure of Two Plank Bridge, its connecting footpath and the footpath on the Wygate estate across the rail line
- Full closure of the Enterprise Way / Spalding Road junction until mid-October
- Temporary traffic signals on near the new Spalding Road roundabout’s north and south tie-ins until early October
- Narrowed lanes on Spalding Road until mid-September
Upcoming traffic restrictions and closures
- One week of night-time road closures on Spalding Road starting mid-October, when Enterprise Way works are complete – 7pm to 6am, dates to be confirme
