We are usually responsible for roadside drains that drain the public highway.
We are not responsible for the following:
- Public sewers are the responsibility of the water company
- Private foul sewers are the responsibility of the property owner
- Roof water drains that only drain one property are the responsibility of the property owner. If they service more than one property they are the responsibility of the water company
- Water mains are the responsibility of the water company
- Water service pipes or internal pipework are the responsibility of the property owner
- Rivers are the responsibility of the Environment Agency
- Watercourses could be the responsibility of the adjacent land owner(s), an Internal Drainage Board or the Environment Agency
Exceptional rainfall can lead to flooding even when drains are in good working order.
We perform the following annually to reduce the risk of highways flooding:
- Clean all gullies and kerb drains
- Inspect all manholes and clean if required
If your fault presents an immediate danger outside our normal hours, call the police on 101
Report a flooding or drainage problem
