Our early years locality teams offer inclusion support for providers.
We support the identification of children aged 0 to 5 with additional needs and disabilities. It will help to improve outcomes.
An early years specialist teacher can provide support to early years providers. It helps build links between education, health and social care.
It also ensures appropriate provision for children with SEND and their transition into school.
How we can help you
Our support to providers includes:
- advice about identification, assessment and intervention within the SEND Code of Practice
- guidance for setting-based SENDCos and ensuring arrangements are in place to support children
- developing good practice
- training for individual settings and on a broader basis
- creating links with existing SENDCos and supporting transitions between providers
We need signed parental consent for the involvement of an early years specialist teacher.
Parents and carers can discuss early years locality team involvement with their early years provider.
