Cancelled public events or festivals - Find a freedom of information request

Request

1) This is an information request relating to public events or festivals that have been organised by the council but were cancelled. Please provide the following information for the last five financial years, 2020/21, 2021/22, 2021/22, 202/23, 2023/24

a) The name and date of each event or festival that was cancelled.

 b) The total expenditure on each cancelled event, including:

 c) Costs associated with planning and organisation.

 d) Marketing and advertising costs.

 e) Deposits paid for venues, equipment, or other services.

 f) Any additional information on whether the council was able to recoup any of the expenditure from deposits or other payments made.

Decision

I can confirm that the information requested is held by Lincolnshire County Council. I have detailed below the information that is being released to you.

a-f) The Lincolnshire Show during Covid (2020)

The only loss made on this was a non-refundable pre-paid deposit of £1000 to some entertainers due to perform on the stand that year

With regards to the 20/21 programme at Lincoln Castle this was affected by lockdown regulations.

Lincolnshire County Council had the below events programmed.

No costs were incurred, with only deposit paid that was carried forward.

2020- 2021 Victorian Dragon Hunters:

04/04/202 – 19/04/2020 Magic School:

23/05/2020 – 31/05/2020 – deposit of £4,500 paid – agreement to carry forward so this was not lost.

Knights of Lincoln Castle: 06/07/2020 – 07/06/2020

Joust: 27/06/2020 – 28/07/2020

Once upon a time (re-enactment): 11/07/2020 – 12/07/2020

The Greatest Fool (re-enactment): 25/07/2020 – 26/07/2020

1940’s weekend (Partnership): 08/08/2020 – 09/08/2020

Castle of Magic Myths & Legends (re-enactment): 15/08/2020 – 16/08/2020

The Story Generators: 24/10/2020 – 01/11/2020

No events that we ourselves organised were cancelled in 21/22, 22/23 or 23/24
