Street lighting changeover to LED lights - Find a freedom of information request

Request

After the 2016 street lighting changeover to LED lights I read that electricity consumption fell.

1. I would like to know now (August 2024) how much the cost is to provide street lighting now AND

2. How much it would cost to keep street lights on during all hours of darkness and not turned off at midnight as the case is now?

Decision

I can confirm that the information requested is held by Lincolnshire County Council. I have detailed below the information that is being released to you.

1. The energy cost to provide street lighting during the financial year 2023/24 was £3,555M.

2. The energy cost to keep streetlights on during all hours of darkness and not turn off at midnight during the same 2023/24 financial year period would be £4,762M.

This calculated cost is for energy only, and converting part night lights back to all night operation would impact heavily on resources and involve a significant additional cost
