Businesses or individuals in your local area have faced legal action or selling vapes - Find a freedom of information request

I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information. Please may you provide me with:

1.   Between January 2024 and June 2024, how many businesses or individuals in your local area / jurisdiction, have faced legal action (charged/cautioned etc.) for selling vapes (or similar products) to people under the age of 18? 

1. 12 premises sold vapes to underage volunteers during test purchases in this period.

All 12 premises received a written warning.

Of the 12 premises:

Five premises were also subject to closure orders for three months.

Two investigations were commenced within this period, with a view to proceeding to criminal prosecution for two of the 12 premises. In total seven premises were subject to either closure orders or investigations commenced, with a view to criminal prosecutions or home office cautions.

No prosecutions were concluded in this period for the sale of vapes to underage volunteers, prior to 2024.
