1. What are the red/orange things (pic 3) embedded in the roads in the South park Junction with the A1434 (NAL Detectors written on the top)?
2. What is the purpose of them?
3. What is the reason for the extra window on this one (pic 8)?
4. Has it anything to do with restricting traffic into or out of Lincoln?
5. How many did the council purchase?
6. How many are in the Lincoln region and where are they located exactly?
7. How much did it cost the taxpayer ?
8. Did the council ask the public view if it is a future restriction item?
9. Who made the decision to install them (name please)

I can confirm that the information requested is held by Lincolnshire County Council. I have detailed below the information that is being released to you.
1. The orange object in the road surface is a detector chamber that houses a M100 wireless vehicle detector. The red object in the road surface is where a M100 wireless vehicle detector was previously installed in resin and the resin covering has failed.
2. These are used to house wireless vehicle detectors at traffic signal junctions. These detectors are used to detect vehicles on the approach to or within a signalised junction. The detection chambers enable our maintenance contractor to easily replace the detection units when they fail.
3. That is a M100 wireless vehicle detector which was installed in resin (as it was installed prior to the production of detection chambers). The "window" is where the resin which would enclose the detector has failed due to wear and tear, leaving the detector exposed.
4. No
5. We have installed 50+ units. We do not keep track of the exact number as these are installed as and when the older studs which were installed in resin fail.
6. We have implemented these at multiple junctions within Lincoln where inductive vehicle detection loops have failed as replacing these once they eventually fail is generally cheaper and less disruptive to the road network than re-cutting loops into the road surface.
7. Approximately £480 per stud housed in a detector chamber plus labour and traffic management for installation.
8. These are not a future restriction item.
