Proposed quarry sites included in the Lincolnshire Mineral and Waste Local Plan - Find a freedom of information request

Request

1. Please could you advise me, since 1984, how many proposed quarry sites that have been included in the Lincolnshire Mineral and Waste Local Plan: Preferred Approach have subsequently been removed from the Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) preferred or adopted sites list. I note report names may have changed over the years however, to clarify, I am trying to understand if any sites included in the preferred approach or selected in any way by LCC have ever subsequently not been adopted.

Decision

1. The Lincolnshire Minerals Local Plan 1991 (superseded) did not contain site specific allocations for mineral extraction.

The existing, adopted Lincolnshire Minerals and Waste Local Plan: Site Locations document 2017 (SLD) does include site specific allocations for mineral extraction. The SLD is available on the county councils website: https://www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/planning/minerals-waste

The site assessment and selection process which underpinned the adopted SLD was set out in the Sites and Areas Report – November 2016 . This document sets out all sites assessed during production of the SLD and the final position in terms of which sites were proposed for allocation and which were discounted, and the reasons why. The Sites and Areas Report November 2016 is attached (including appendices).

An earlier Sites and Areas Report – November 2015 was produced which supported the earlier ‘preferred sites’ stage of the SLD. This report is also attached. Changes in sites proposed for allocation/discounted can be determined by cross referencing the above documents.

Should you require the attachments mentioned above please contact customerinformationservice@lincolnshire.gov.uk with the below reference number and this can be provided.

Lincolnshire County Council is in the process of updating the existing minerals and waste local plan and, following consideration by the council's environment and economy scrutiny committee, and the subsequent approval by its executive, the council will commence public consultation on the preferred approach for updating the plan in the forthcoming weeks. The preferred approach consultation document includes preferred sites for allocation for minerals extraction and is accompanied by a detailed Site Assessment Report which sets out all sites assessed during production of the preferred approach document and the current position in terms of which sites are proposed for provisional allocation as preferred sites, and which are proposed to be discounted at this stage. Whilst the Preferred Approach document and its supporting evidence base will form part of the consultation documentation when this begins, documents are currently available on the county council's website as part of the committee documentation: https://lincolnshire.moderngov.co.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=548&MId=8615
