I understand you are the flood prevention authority for Nettleham Beck. The left bank of the beck behind 5A Church Street in Nettleham has recently been substantially raised and moved out by a wall of gabions. Please let me know:
1. What approval or assessment of this work you were asked for beforehand or has made since?
2. The results of any measurements of the stream width reduction made in order to assess the greater risk of flooding upstream?
3. The results of any calculations or estimates made of the resulting increased water levels upstream under flood conditions?
4. What action it is proposed to take, with reasons? - Decision

1. Based on our records no application for land drainage consent was submitted to Witham Third District Internal Drainage Board who act as our agent with respect to consenting and enforcement on ordinary watercourses in this location. Please note that retrospective consent for any such works cannot be applied for or obtained.
2-3. As no application was submitted, we do not hold the requested information.
4. In response to concerns raised regarding the unconsented works the enforcement officer for Witham Third District Internal Drainage Board visited the location and in their professional opinion, although the works had not received consent, the profile of the watercourse had not been altered as a result. Consequently, it is currently proposed that no enforcement action will be taken although internal discussions are on-going and a final decision to be agreed over the coming weeks.
