Early Support and Learning Provision, providing opportunities for children with disabilities or complex medical needs to learn and explore through play independently, whilst providing a short break for their parent and carer.

This session offers a range of fun activities to support children developing their independence and social skills through play.

Tuesdays

Let’s Get Active 0 to 5 years - no session 17 September

Children will be encouraged to be active in a range of activities such as running, jumping, balancing, climbing and throwing to develop their coordination.

Early Voices under 1s - no session 17 September

Babies are born ready to communicate. This session will support these developing skills through songs and rhymes.

Wednesdays

Pop in and Play 0 to 5 years

An opportunity for babies and children to pop in with their parents and carers to use the resources in the early years room in the centre. All we ask is that families clean and tidy the resources after use and the space is a safe and happy environment for all to enjoy.

OWL Babies under 1s 

Babies explore their environment through their senses which are vital for early brain development. These sessions will include discussions around baby’s brain development, the benefits of being outside, sensory play activities, singing and sharing books.

Thursdays

Portage Stepping Stones - starting 19 September

An invitation only targeted small group, for SEN pre school children and their parents or carers, led by Portage Practitioners and supported by Early Years and Family Educators.  Weekly sessions run over eight weeks focusing on specific areas of development .

Baby Massage - starting 19 September

This five-week course offers a chance for you and your baby to spend precious time bonding through massage whilst meeting other parents with babies to form friendships.

Drop into any children’s centre to access the range of borrow bags. These include sensory bags, stories bags, treasure baskets and much more.


Free online sessions for parents and carer

Connect with other parents and carers via Zoom and learn about topics relevant to families and children aged 0 to 5. Share ideas in how to support children’s early education and each other. Visit the Family Corner website.

The courses provide support through all stages of bringing up children, from pregnancy and birth to caring for toddlers up to teenagers.
