Percentage benchmark for schemes - Find a freedom of information request

Request

1. Please can you tell me if you have a percentage benchmark and if so what that percentage is?

Before we implement a new permanent scheme such as making changes to on street parking restrictions, we consult the residents and local councillors (via letters) of that specific area to see if they are against or in favour of the proposals. At East Riding 70% of the residents and councillors would need to be in favour of the proposals for it to implement the scheme.

Do you have to do a similar process to this when implementing a new scheme and if you do please can you tell me what percentage of the consulted need to agree for it to be implemented.

Decision

1. For schemes where general waiting restrictions are being considered Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) do not operate a percentage support system, but instead it submits any objections to the proposals to LCC Planning & Regulation Committee for consideration.

If it is introducing a permit parking scheme however all potential permit holders are canvassed and 66% must be in support for the scheme to be financially viable and therefore progress.
