Mini police - personal responsibility year 5 and 6 - Stay Safe Partnership

Outcomes

Students will be able to answer the following learning questions:

  • how do I keep myself and my friends safe?
  • do I understand the effects of alcohol?
  • am I aware of how my behaviour affects others?
Service Description

‘Personal responsibility’ is a part of our mini police primary schools education offer within Lincolnshire Police. These sessions can be done as a standalone, or as part of a series of mini police workshops. Personal safety issues have been prominent across the cournty over the past few years.Throughout this session the children will discuss how their behaviour in the community can impact on others.

We will explore common situations around peer pressure and consumption of alcohol, and how this can create a ripple affect on their:

  • behaviour
  • relationships
  • community
  • attainment in school

The focus is not to scare but to inform and to ensure that as they move into their teenage years and initial years at secondary school, they are in the best position to make an informed decision about their actions.

During the workshops, students will undertake tasks individually, in small groups as well as engage in whole group discussion. Sessions will be delivered by experienced trainers from Lincolnshire Police youth engagement coordinators team or by local police community support officers (PCSO’s) in an age appropriate, fair and inclusive manner.

Delivery is supported by PowerPoint presentation and hand outs. Videos are embedded within the presentation; the presentation does not require an internet connection to play the videos. Due to being embedded the videos will need to buffer for a few seconds before playing.

Availability

This workshop is available to all year 5 and 6 students across Lincolnshire.
