River Bain restoration project - Find a freedom of information request

River Bain, near Horncastle.

A river restoration project is currently in the design phase and so specific details are yet to be confirmed. The upstream extent is located at TF 25894 69870 with the downstream extent at TF 25525 69546 (Map attached below).

As part of a Flood Risk Assessment for the ongoing project, I have some questions that It would be very useful to get your input to:

1. Does the council hold any records on historic flood events along the River Bain or any other incidents related to flooding, whether fluvial or surface water/other source in nature?

2. Is the council aware of any other schemes in the River Bain catchment that may be of relevance to this study/ assessment?

3. Any other information the council may hold that is relevant to considering the flood risk to/ from the River Bain and surrounding area.

2. As the River Bain is classified as “Main River”, this question about future schemes at this location would be best directed at colleagues at the Environment Agency (EA).

3. Additional to the Section 19 Flood Investigations completed and published on the LCC website provided above, LCC were informed following Storm Babet of a further 204 individual properties (both Internal & External flooding to gardens/outbuildings etc) and roads flooded in the Horncastle area inside & outside your study area.

LCC were informed following Storm Henk of a further 2 individual properties that experienced external flooding to gardens/outbuildings etc in Horncastle. It is unsure at this point if these properties are within your study area provided.
