Planning applications where biodiversity net gain was relevant - Find a freedom of information request

Request

1. Please can you provide any planning applications where biodiversity net gain was relevant.

Please could you supply a list of application numbers, particularly if any of the following were included in the application ?

(1) Enhancement plans

(2) Habitat Monitoring and Management Plans?

Decision

1. The requirements of the Environment Act 2021 have not yet come into force and so at this moment in time it is not mandatory for developers to provide a minimum of 10% biodiversity net gain as part of their proposals or a requirement for Planning Authorities to require or secure Enhancement Plans or Habitat Monitoring and Management Plans for any habitats and gains created for an extended 30 year period.

However, the National Planning Policy Framework and policies contained with Local Plans do still require developments to protect and provide opportunities to enhance biodiversity and so applications/proposals often do still include measures to increase biodiversity interest as part of the development. It is not possible to identify a specific list of applications where this applies however details of all applications received can be found on Lincolnshire County Council’s website where you should be able to search for applications made and supporting documentation.
