Decision

I can confirm that the information requested is held by Lincolnshire County Council. I have detailed below the information that is being released to you.

1. We took the definition of a break down to mean an occasion where the appliance cannot be mobilised. This is recorded as a Code 1 Defect. It should be noted that there are some Code 1 Defects that affect the equipment on an appliance, but will still allow the appliance to stay on the run (such as an LPP). The number of occasions by year are below

Year No. of Code 1 Defects Cost
2018-19 210 £62,767.52
2019-20 184 £59,639.34
2020-21 138 £49,484.66
2021-22 141 £59,652.12
2022-23 184 £71,165.08
2023-24 49 £12,984.55

2. There is no standardised method of recording a breakdown en route to an incident in our mobilising system. The details of the problem are noted, however, given the variety of words used to describe the issues, there is no way of running a report to accurately count the number of breakdowns en route to an incident.

3. Each Code 1 Defect is recorded as described by the reporting crew member on the attached tables, broken down by year.

4. The cost to repair each Code 1 Defect is recorded on the attached table and the total is calculated for each year on the table in question 1.
