Online safety workshop for year 5 students - Stay Safe Partnership

This workshop will enable students to:

• determine what information can be shared safely online
• demonstrate methods to identify individuals who may present a risk to them, or who may not be honest about who they are
• understand some simple methods to manage their safe use of online services
• show an awareness of which adults can support them online

All year 5 students will be offered this interactive workshop which will be based around personal information sharing, stranger awareness and privacy online. The workshop will include questions, quizzes and activities. Questions from students are actively encouraged.

Sessions will be delivered by experienced trainers from the Stay Safe Partnership in an age-appropriate and inclusive way.

This workshop is available to all year 5 students across Lincolnshire. The sessions are either a morning or afternoon. The session will last 60 minutes approximately. Please complete booking form with your preferred availability. Where we cannot accommodate, we will send alternative space.

• strategies for keeping safe online, including how to manage requests for personal information or images of themselves and others
• what to do if frightened or worried by something seen or read online and how to report concerns, inappropriate content and contact

• about why someone may behave differently online, including pretending to be someone they are not 
• strategies for recognising risks, harmful content and contact
• how to report concerns

• how to recognise pressure from others to do something unsafe or that makes them feel uncomfortable, and strategies for managing this

• where to get advice and report concerns if worried about their own or someone else’s personal safety (including online)

• recognise ways in which the internet and social media can be used both positively and negatively

• about some of the different ways information and data is shared and used online, including for commercial purposes

• recognise things appropriate to share and things that should not be shared on social media
• rules surrounding distribution of images
