The number of street works and road works - Find a freedom of information request

1) I would like to request the number of street works and road works carried out by the council and separately for third parties such as utility companies for the 2021/22 financial year. across all of Lincolnshire.

2) I would also like to know the cost to the council for the applicable works carried out by themselves, and separately for third parties, and for each the proportion of these carried out at night, and those that lasted longer than 7 days.

I can confirm that the information requested is held by Lincolnshire County Council. I have detailed below the information that is being released to you.

1) Number of street works carried out by third parties for the 2021/22 financial year across the whole of Lincolnshire is 25226.

2) The attachment has all roadworks we have recorded for 2021/22 financial year. It has the actual start time of most of the jobs recorded so can be filtered based on the requestor’s definition of “at night”. It also has the value of each of the jobs with value.

Unfortunately, a lot of smaller jobs carried out are “zero value” jobs within the contract, where the individual records don’t have a value recorded. This is because the value and cost is logged against high level orders for the month or year and verified through the monthly application process.

There is no recorded cost to the council for works carried out by third parties. LCC is unable to provide the proportion of works carried out at night as works are recorded on a national system and this information is not always provided by the third party within a searchable field – to carry out a manual search of 25226 records is beyond the scope of an FOI enquiry under section 12(1) f the FOI Act 2000 (more than 18 hours).

The number of third-party works lasting longer than 7 days is 2509.
