This is a question that relates to unaccompanied children seeking asylum in the UK who you took responsibility for and then you had a duty of care towards them when they turned 18.

1. At the start of the 2022 academic year (i.e. September/October 2022) how many of these young adults did you provide funding for living expenses (accommodation or general living expenses) while attending a university degree course in the UK?

2. In the 2021/2022 financial year what was the cost of these living expenses to your authority?

3. As of the start of the 2022 academic year (ie Sept/Oct 2022) please state the number of these young adults you were funding to attend which universities in the UK.

Please provide a list showing the name of the institution and the number you are funding at each institution?

Decision

1. Lincolnshire supports four Former Relevant Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking people in university.

2. Each young person receives £3,000 per year towards fees, and £2,000 towards support to be at university - this year Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) paid £20,000 in support and fees to former UASC at university.
