Holiday pay for term-time school workers - Find a freedom of information request

Request

1. Please can you advise on what calculation Lincolnshire County Council have used since 2010 to calculate holiday pay for term-time school workers.

2. Please can you also provide the results of the calculation and how they tie into the Green Book holiday entitlements from 2014 onwards for term-time only staff and term-time plus one week staff.

In particular I am wanting the information for school support staff with less than five years service and more than five years service using pay grades 1-7 and then 8+.

Please can you also advise on what the calculation will be for 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 with the additional bank holiday in 2023/2024 and the additional day's holiday as part of the 2022/2023 pay settlement.

Decision

1. Attached are the calculations for equated pay staff that have been in place since 01.01.2011.

Using 39 working weeks/44.28 paid weeks as an example, the 44.28 figure is derived at by the following equation: 195/229 x 52 = 44.28

The 195 equates to the number of days worked (39 weeks x 5 days) whilst the denominator is arrived at by taking the number of days in the year (365) minus weekends (104) minus the holiday entitlement (29) minus the bank holidays (8) to give a direct proportion of pay that an individual working on a full year (52 weeks) would receive. In effect the individual receives 5.28 weeks pay in addition to the 39 working weeks. This is then paid equally each month.

Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) is currently working on adjustments to take into account implications of the recent Brazel v Harpur Trust case and the additional day's leave as part of the 2022/2023 pay settlement. Additional time off will also be provided to take into account the extra bank holiday in 2022/2023.
