The Definitive Map - Find a freedom of information request

Request

The Definitive Map held by Lincolnshire County Council is a digitalised version, publicly available to view on the Council's website. It is naturally the case that prior to digitalisation, a paper or alternative format of map was used by Lincolnshire County Council.

1. I would like to establish where the former copy of the map is held?

2. What date the former map was taken out of use and replaced with the newer digitalised version please?

Decision

The Definitive Map for Lincolnshire is not the mapping available to the public online which is the “electronic working copy mapping” and the disclaimer on the landing page for the mapping explicitly states this. https://www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/coast-countryside/public-rights-way/3

Lincolnshire County Council continues to use the original Definitive Maps and Statements of the former Lindsey, Kesteven, Holland and City of Lincoln Councils alongside subsequent Legal Event and Evidential Event orders as the Definitive Map and Statement for the County of Lincolnshire for legal purposes. The online mapping is a representation of that combined information (i.e. original maps and subsequent orders) to show an up to date and convenient facility for the public.
