In 2016/2017, the county council introduced part-night street lighting.
1. Could you please tell me how much money has been saved as a result of this since 2016?
2. District, town and parish councils can make a one-off payment to turn specific lights back on overnight. Could you please tell me:
a. The cost of this payment?
b. How many have been converted this way to date?
c. The area they are in?

1. The Street Lighting Transformation project, which included the substantial move to part-night lighting and was implemented in 2016/2017, aimed to save over £1.7 Million per annum, which it did at the time. Energy costs have only increased since then and therefore the hypothetical savings per annum are now significantly more than if the Transformation project had not been implemented. Since the introduction of part-night lighting, Lincolnshire County Council have also continued to convert part-night lit lights to LED where it has been affordable and practicable to do so. This has only increased the savings made further.
2.
a. The one-off cost per light for reversal as part of routine maintenance is £150, irrespective of the existing equipment in place. The one-off cost per light for reversal outside of routine maintenance is £300, irrespective of the existing equipment in place.
b. To date only one formal request for conversion from part-night lighting to all night operation has been received. This is for four lights in Pinchbeck, to be done as part of routine maintenance in financial year 2020/2021. The request was received in February 2020 and follows on from a general enquiry made by that Parish. Otherwise, only general enquiries have been made about the number of part-night lights in specific locations. These have been made on behalf of the following areas: Gainsborough, Louth, Metheringham, West Pinchbeck, Skegness, Deeping St James and Billingborough.
c. Please see above.
