Brayford Wharf East cycle route - Find a freedom of information request

Request

Brayford Wharf East was closed to cars starting for one year from October 2020 with the intention to explore options to provide a cycle route into this area of town. This was made possible by the government's "Active Travel Fund".

1. The methodology of information gathering used to assess the effect of this temporary closure

2. The data which were gathered

3. How this data was taken forward to a decision making process which resulted in a choice to not proceed with this road closure permanently

Decision

1. Pedestrian and cycle counts were gathered. However, this data was not as valuable as anticipated due to the reduction in people moving around the city of Lincoln. The barriers were also frequently moved, altering the efficacy of the scheme. The data was collected by human observation.

2. The data was collected by the Lincolnshire Lab and consisted of pedestrian and cycle counts.

3. LCC members made the decision not to take the scheme forward to a permanent scheme on analysing both the data and their own opinions.
