Traffic where the A52 meets the B1174 and Springfield Road, Grantham.

I would like to know the timescales of the discussions with McDonalds and how these discussions have been conducted and the roles of the people involved in the discussions.

1. For how long have Lincolnshire County Council been communicating with McDonalds? Is the communication with the local employees or at a level where things might be more likely to initiate some change.

2. Are the communications telephone conversations, e-mails? Formal meetings? What is the format and who is involved? What does "further contact " mean?

3. How long do the County Council "await"? Are there some agreed timelines set in order to ensure things progress? If timelines are set, then it would be useful to know what they might be.

Response for all questions:

First contact with one of McDonalds Managers (not the Grantham Restaurant Manager) regarding this specific issue was via email from Lincolnshire County Council’s Development Management colleagues on 20 December 2021, who had the contact name from dealings regarding another proposed store in the county. This contact was made following correspondence to the local MP from a constituent and also a report from the local County Councillor about the issues being experienced. All contact since has also been via email. Follow-up emails have been sent by the Local Highways Manager to the same McDonalds Manager on 8 February 2022 and 15 March 2022 with responses stating that changes are being looked at within the site to try to assist, but these may well require planning permission etc. We have heard nothing since from the manager.

A further email was sent on 19 July 2022 to the same McDonalds Manager, with a chasing email on 26 July 2022, asking what they have planned and requesting a reply as Lincolnshire County Council are at the stage where we may be forced to look at traffic regulation orders to help solve the issues on the highway which will of course affect customer movements and access when going into and out of the premises. We requested some further correspondence therefore and a meeting so we could work with McDonalds to solve the issue, a reply has yet to be received.

A follow-up email has been sent on 9 August 2022 and 10 August 2022 to inform the McDonalds Manager that we will be placing the junction and access area on our list of traffic regulation orders requiring investigation, with a view to introducing a solution here that would deal with the traffic flow issue and blockage of the signalised junction. This investigation will commence as soon as is feasible and resources allow but the whole process takes upwards of six months once started as this is a legal process and needs to follow legislation and policy.
