Adoption Disruptions - Find a freedom of information request

I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information:

1. How many adoption disruptions - after a child was placed with prospective adopters, but before an adoption order was made - occurred in each of the last five financial years (2017/18, 2018/19, 2019/20, 2020/21 and 2021/22)?

2. How many adoption breakdowns - i.e. the breakdown of a placement after an adoption order was made - occurred in each of the last five financial years (2017/18, 2018/19, 2019/20, 2020/21 and 2021/22)?

• 2020/21: Zero.
• 2021/22: Zero.

2. The statistics for these cases are not collated as adopters, unless children are open to adoption support, but tend to be two to three per year.
