Decision

1. Whilst the Council has no set definition the term can be defined as the reduction in management of landscape features to enable the natural regeneration of flora and fauna. The principle of letting nature manage itself.

2. The Council does not have any specific policies concerning rewilding but is continuing to review ongoing changes based on the Environment Act 2021 and the introduction of Local Nature Recovery Strategies.

3. The Council does not have a specific budget for rewilding but does support the work of communities that wish to engage in locally based schemes through the provision of Community Wildlife Grants. The total budget of which is in the region of £5,000 to £10,000 pa. and awarded in £500 maximum sums.
