Training for Adult Social Care Staff - Find a freedom of information request

Request

1. The dates and details of the Courses for Adult Social Care staff to assist clients to complete the Continuing Health Care Checklist and take this through to an MultiDisciplinary Team meeting, final decision, and later reviews.

2. The level of medical training that Social Workers and Occupational Therapists receive on how patients with medical conditions manage their everyday lives with their symptoms and medical equipment prescribed/provided to them.

 

Decision

1. LCC has an on-going programme including multi agency training and online training provided by NHS England. NHS e-Learning package available to staff

Embedded in the Directorate's Induction Programme for new starters. This e-Learning is endorsed by the Department of Health.

There are three modules which are;

  • Introduction to Continuing Healthcare (CHC)
  • Referral for Continuing Healthcare: Checklist
  • Multidisciplinary Assessment and Completing the Decision Support Tool

Training for 2021-22 includes:

Continuing Health Care in Practice training. This event will explores the national framework, how to complete CHC checklists and understand the practitioner's role when taking part in Decision Support Tool (DST) meetings. The event will also look at the types and levels of CHC funding as well as exploring the legalities of this area.

Interagency Checklist Training provided

Training in partnership with NHS partners. Sessions to be facilitated in partnership by CHC and L.C.C and to be undertaken by Health and Adult Care practitioners as a requirement.

 

2. LCC offer a suite of training on long term conditions as it is one of the Care Act requirements. They are general awareness courses which support practitioners to have a better understanding and insight into the impact so that they can then bring this knowledge to their interactions with service users and their assessments. We look to source them from specialist nurses and charities.
