Council Staff Working From Home - Find a freedom of information request

Request

How many of LCC staff who are normally office based, as a percentage, are still working from home and why?

Decision

Due to the nature of LCC’s current smarter working approach and the flexibility that brings, along with the number of sites at which employees can work The Council are not able to give a precise figure on the number of employees who are currently working from home either full time or part time.

LCC’s smarter working policy operates on a basis of 50:50 home to office/other location, however due to current arrangements and refurbishment works this is likely to be 75% working from home at present.

LCC employees are continuing to work from home where they are able to because:

  • Working from home provides an efficient and productive way of working for many employees and is part of The Council’s current and future smarter working approach.
  • LCC are continuing to be mindful of the risk of spreading the Coronavirus.
  • LCC’s capacity for safe workspaces is reduced.

Employees are currently working in offices or other locations either some or all of the time where:

  • This is necessary for them to perform their duties e.g. interacting face to face with service users and the public, practical tasks using equipment or out in the community.
  • They have a personal need to support their health and wellbeing. • They are unable to access an appropriate working environment at home.
