Request

1. Can you tell me if any of the limestone in Lincoln from council owned buildings to public buildings or landmarks such as the castle, cathedral, city Hall, the limestone walls that surround upper Lincoln, arch ways are made from any type of geopolymer limestone or cast limestone?

2. Are you aware of this method ever being used on any Stonework within Lincoln.

3. If the answer is yes to any of the questions above can you please list the buildings and walls that have geopolymer stone in them?

Decision

Lincolnshire County Council only own Lincoln castle and not any of the other buildings mentioned.

The most recent set of repairs carried out at Lincoln Castle relates to a Culture Recovery Funded project from last year. This involved the incorporation of existing Lincoln limestone, with small brick patches and small pieces of concrete. Most of the new stone which was supplied had been sourced from Ancaster and capped with York stone. All repairs and method statements were approved by Historic England and the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
