Self-Funded Care Brokerage Requirements - Find a freedom of information request

Request

1. How Lincolnshire County Council currently support self-funders with their care brokerage requirements. What support and guidance is the council committed to providing directly to self-funders?

2. Does Lincolnshire County Council have an approved provider list that it shares with selffunders to assist them with sourcing the care and support they require and if so how does an organisation join the approved provider list?

Decision

1. A self-funder is someone who is paying for the full cost of their care and support. This is most commonly where the person has savings or investments adding up to over £23,250. Also, if a person does not provide the information the council needs to complete a financial assessment or if the council has assessed them as not having eligible care needs under the care act, they will also have to pay the full cost of care. People who are paying the full cost of their care and support are entitled to a free assessment of their care needs from the council's Adult care teams. The council can then manage the care for a one-off fee.

2. There is not an approved provider list. Anyone with care needs - regardless of how it is funded, can have access to the Connect to Support Lincolnshire online service which contains the list of current care provision in the county.
