Request

1. The number of properties owned and/or used by LCC prior to the 23rd March 2020, and the cost of the upkeep of these including rent, maintenance, services.

2. The same information as of the 3rd August 2021.

3. The savings LCC estimates it will make from staff WFH & the expected number of staff WFH out of how many.

Decision

1 and 2. In March 2020 LCC had an interest (leasehold or freehold) in 1111 sites. Since then, 12 sites have been disposed of. These were planned disposals that are not related to staff working from home. There have been no disposals due to reductions in office space. The total running cost for 19/20 was £30,073,515 and for 20/21 was £30,060.69

3. The Council is currently working on estimates for potential savings related to staff working from home, reductions in office accommodation and travel costs due to increased virtual delivery of meetings, recruitment and training and are not able to provide figures at this time.

These potential savings will also need to be offset against investments in technology, equipment and improvements required on the accommodation we retain.

The Council employs 5287 staff, and do not have any information on the numbers of staff who expect to work from home in addition to the number of staff who currently work from home.
