I am a student at University of Edinburgh but live in Uffington near Stamford. I study MA Sustainable Development and I am really passionate about promoting food waste and plastic free shopping.
I was wondering whether it is feasible for Lincolnshire to have a food waste program and facilities to allow people to reduce the amount of their food waste that goes into landfill.
I'm also interested in any sustainable practice that you promote and give people the access to carry these out?

Lincolnshire County Council is currently producing a strategy on the disposal of food waste and other organic material using Anaerobic Digestion technology. The research is to inform the County Council's strategic response to the Government's forthcoming legislation to implement new policies referenced in their Resources and Waste Strategy, specifically for the treatment of food waste under the new separate collections proposals, and broadened to include all bio wastes collected by the County Council.
A recent trial has taken place in South Kesteven District Council for separate food waste collection and we will be looking to develop this wider across the county once the government legislation is confirmed. Our disposal technology will reflect what is required by government.
