1. We are conducting a study to examine rates of ill-health retirement across English Local Authorities and assess the rates according to the socioeconomic deprivation status of the councils involved.
We kindly request the following data for your council (or for each council under your care individually if you look after more than one council) for these years under the Freedom of Information request:
a. 2015-16
b. 2016-17
c. 2017-2018
- Number of ill-health retirement applications made
- Number of successful ill-health retirement applications
- Total Employee Number/Count
- If available, the mean age of ill-health retirement cases for the years listed above
Please provide separate data for individual organisations that you look after
The data you provide will be anonymised using a three-digit code known only to the study team. Data will be stored on a password-protected computer system at Sheffield Occupational Health and Wellbeing Service and password-protected memory stick held by the study team. The study has been registered with the Clinical Governance, Occupational Health Department, HR Directorate, and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.
Once we have evaluated the data, we would be pleased to provide you with a copy of the results. In providing these results, the names of councils other than your own will not be identifiable. We would like this data to support your evaluation of ill-health retirement processes in your organisation.
