Our 90-minute mini first aid kids class learning objectives include:
- understand the principles of first aid
- carry out a primary survey and put someone into the recovery position
- identify when someone is not breathing and carry out CPR
- how to deal with bumps to the head
- how to treat minor burns
- identify and assist someone who has a fracture
- identify and treat minor bleeding
- identify and treat someone who is choking

Mini first aid kids is designed for children aged 7 to 11. Children are starting to be more independent and can understand basic first aid. In the interactive 90-minute session, children learn to deal with bumps, burns, breaks and bleeding, carry out CPR and deal with choking. The class is practical, lots of fun and involves lots of activities for the children to enjoy, a favourite with schools.
Classes can be delivered up to a maximum of 30 children per session.
Each child will receive a mini first aid certificate plus a first aid workbook that they can complete in school or at home in order for them to continue their learning.

As part of the KS2 curriculum for physical health and mental wellbeing, mini first aid kids classes cover the requirements (below) and much, much more.
- How to make a clear and efficient call to emergency services if necessary.
- Concepts of basic first aid, for example dealing with common injuries including head injuries.
Additionally, the UK Resuscitation Council (2021) states that: ‘it is recognised that children of all school ages should receive CPR training each year’. They also state that ‘accredited life support courses are recommended as they can improve patient outcomes’, and ‘every person should learn to provide the basic skills to save a life’.
