a. Do you have any evidence that the rainfall on Wednesday 12th & Thursday 13th June 2019 in Holbeach was the highest on record?
b. Where does the storm water for battlefields lane drain to and in which direction?
c. The rainfall was not constant, there were many breaks in it, why was the drainage systems for the area not adequately moving it during these times? (It was at a standstill).
d. How often should storm drains be cleared?
e. I have video and photographic evidence that the water was streaming from the road and on to my property, very clearly the dropped curb is not sufficient to keep the water on the road flowing to storm drains (this is not the first time I have reported that either) what will be done to rectify this.
f. I formally lodged that my house was going to flood with the highways department, no one came to clear the storm drains which were the issue – why was this?
g. When was the storm drains last cleared?

a. We do not hold data on rainfall or have details of what record levels are. The Met Office holds the nation's weather and climate records. You can find summaries, climate figures and much more for the UK here...

b. The highway drainage in the section of Battlefields Lane South between King George V Avenue and 6 Battlefields Lane South outfalls into a field drain that runs alongside 9 Battlefields Lane South towards the A17.
c. The rainfall was heavy and prolonged over a number of days. The field drain was at capacity so the water from the gullies could not outfall into it or only slowly.
d. The highway drainage assets (gullies, offlets and catchpits) are cleaned annually.
e. The kerbing across the access is within acceptable tolerance, however the Council would be pleased to see a copy of the video.
f. The highway drains were not blocked and the Council believe it was a problem with the outfall
g. The drainage assets at this location were last cleaned out on 12.10.18. They are scheduled to be cleaned again in October 2019.
