Teaching Unions - Pooled Union Facility Time - Find a freedom of information request

1. Please state the total spent by your organisation on pooled union facility time or equivalent direct financial contributions to teaching unions in each of the last five financial years, and the current financial year to date.

2. Please provide a copy of your organisation's current policy or guidance document/s on providing pooled union facility time to unions.

3. Please state the total number of hours allotted by your organisation to teachers as time permitting them to work on teaching union activities while counting as office hours in each of the last five financial years, and the current financial year to date. If your organisation holds a financial calculation of this cost, please provide it.

4. Please state the total spent by your organisation on any other direct financial contribution to teaching unions in each of the last five financial years, and the current financial year to date.

The County Council does not provide any direct funding or have any formal agreements with the teacher trade unions as regards facility time. Arrangements are made directly between schools themselves and the trade unions concerned.
Schools, are however invited by the County Council to contribute funds that the Council subsequently pays over to the trade unions to support trade union duties.

This practice was agreed and commenced from the beginning of 2016/17.
