Outcome and reasons for the decision

The claimed route is shown on numerous documentation support of the existence of the lane since at least 1819. The 1910 Finance Act documents show the claimed route as uncoloured and excluded from the surrounding parcels of land, which is a strong suggestion that it was considered to be a public highway. It is also recorded as a publicly maintainable highway on the 1929 Highway Handover Map.

A decision has been made based on the documentary evidence for the claimed way to be recorded at a higher status of Restricted Byway than that of public bridleway which was applied for.
