Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue is raising awareness of barriers faced by those with hearing impairments as part of Deaf Awareness Week.

This year’s theme is “Access to Communication’’ and focuses on raising awareness of the communication needs of the deaf community.

It’s important that the deaf and hard of hearing community have the same access to information as everyone else in our communities.

There’s a useful British Sign Language version of the Fire Kills: Fire Safety in the Home video.

There are special smoke alarms designed to alert people who are deaf or hard of hearing. They can vibrate or flash in an emergency. Find out more on the RNID website - Smoke alarm systems - RNID.

You can also create a free personalised fire safety plan via our online tool.
