£130,000 footpath rebuild in May

A map of the diversion in place

Welton is getting an extensive path reconstruction.

Karen Cassar, assistant director for Highways said: “I am delighted that we can bring this improvement to Welton. A complete footpath rebuild such as this is a big job to carry out, but once the works are complete the route will be much improved.”

Locations of works

The works will be carried out at Ryland Road, Welton (between Cliff Road and Hackthorn Road).

Dates and times

The works will begin on Monday, May 13 and have a planned end date of Saturday, June 22, subject to suitable weather. Work will take place on site between 07.30 to 17.30 each day.

Traffic management

No road closures are necessary for these works however, there will be temporary lights directing traffic as necessary.

There will be a pedestrian diversion for the first two weeks of the schedule as Occupation Lane will have no access during this time. There will be diversion signs in place for footpath users to be able to access the back entrance to school.

Karen Cassar added: “As part of the programme of works our team will be removing the current path and replacing it with a new laid surface which will include new crossing points.

“There will be a pedestrian diversion in place for the duration of the works which we will do our best to finish as quickly as possible.

“Residents will find that, at times, on-street parking will have to be suspended whilst we work from section to section. This is to allow access of essential machinery. On-site notices will explain which areas are no parking at selected times.

“With that in mind, I would like to thank everyone effected for their patience and understanding while we get this improvement carried out for Welton.”
